Rusty's New Friend Penny

Oh, Rusty. He's always dealing with some new friend. Ok, so we were sort of on hiatus for awhile trying to get stuff done but what happens to come along but:
A PUPPY!!! Meet Penny from Pet Project Rescue. She's with us for two weeks minimum and she's so stinkin' adorable. She's a puppy of course, so she's learning not to nip and how to run and climb stairs and follow Rusty.
She learns quickly following Rusty everywhere... Yep, and even tries to imitate him! It's pretty cute!
And this is the worst picture I've taken of her... she runs and runs and runs and runs... And then like a puppy, totally crashes into a deep puppy nap. SO STINKIN' CUTE.

Mario

Isn't this black lab adorable? He's Rusty's new foster brother from Pet Project Rescue. He's just fantastic (though about to be MUCH better after his neuter tomorrow!). He knows how to sit and is in the process of being crate trained. I can tell that he was an outdoor dog and probably a hunting dog (because he barks when he sees birds and rabbits... plus he sits automatically and waits for the command to go, which I haven't figured out yet). He's wonderful with Rusty and loves to play fetch.

So if you're looking for a retriever that actually retrieves who's probably about 2 1/2 or 3, you can apply for Mario with Pet Project Rescue!

Adopt Cora!!!

Rusty has a new roommate. This is Cora.
Cora is about 7 months old. She knows sit, down, come, leave it, wait and we're working on walking well on a leash. She loves to play fetch and with Rusty. And she's just a sweetheart. Her favorite thing at night is to cuddle up on the couch and watch the Olympics! Or How I Met Your Mother...

Also, she's been spayed and she's UTD on all her shots, which means that she's ready to go!
If you want to adopt Cora, you can visit her Petfinder page here, or Pet Project Rescue's adoptable dog pages.

Cora needs a forever home, wanna a sweetie to cuddle up with every night?

Momma Got a Scary New Piece of Furniture

Look. It's as tall as me. It's about the same color and it has four legs. This thing is scary.
I can't really go near it. It's just way too scary. I don't like new things and Momma got something new. Doesn't she know that I don't do well with new things? Isn't there a rule that says that she has to consult with me before anything new comes into the house?
I mean, maybe I'll sniff it. And bark at it. It doesn't bark back so that's good. I don't think it'll bite me, but you never know.
Nope, definitely doesn't bark back. Not at all, this one is silent. Actually, the teapot is not silent. I barked at it and then it started squealing and steaming. Did she tell you that story? I don't like the teapot at all.
Nope, not my favorite but I guess I'll deal with it.
Nigel thought it would come with a friend to play with. Nigel likes anything with four legs. Did Momma tell you that? Nigel gets along with everyone and dogs too. And weird things like this that don't bark or smell.

Have a good weekend. Mine will be in avoidance of this new fangled contraption in the dining room.

I've Been Banned...

From the kitchen. See, I'm Rusty and I'm the MONSTER according to my mama. Did you know that I'm not really a good helper in the kitchen? I'd rather just eat the food. So I've been banned from the kitchen when mama cooks.
But, see, Nigel here, hasn't been banned from the kitchen yet. He lays in the corner and I don't know how he does it. There's way too many good smells. I can't stand laying down in the kitchen. Me and the pot rack don't get along. Neither do I and the garbage... Oops...
See, here's mama's evidence (my dad's a lawyer and somehow I've learned some legal words and mumbo jumbo). I stand in the middle so I can see and smell everything. That also means that mama has to walk AROUND me and generally every time she does something falls on the floor for me to eat.
So, I'm no longer admitted to the kitchen. And it makes me kinda sad because I really liked eating turkey and lettuce. So here's my last picture of me in the kitchen when mama is cooking. It's um, well, sad for me. But I think my waistline will like it. I think. My taste buds and tongue do not like it.
Oh, well. At least mama took pictures of this non-joyous occasion. Whatevs. At least Nigel can steal food for me. And we're besties. We sleep next to each other too. See, we're really good at playing and sitting next to each other.

Happy weekend!

Nigel

Meet Nigel. Rusty's new foster brother! He was rescued just hours before he was to be euthanized at a local animal control.
Nigel is such a goonie! He's handsome and he knows it. He has so many expressions and it seems like his tongue is always hanging out!
Nigel loves to chew on bones and bully sticks, of course, like any Lab/Golden loves to do!
He loves playing with Rusty (Mr. Instigator, himself) and they play tug, run around the yard and then lay next to each other in the dog bed.
And of course, Nigel is very curious. He loves the camera and he loves anything new! Nigel would be the PERFECT family dog. He loves other dogs, loves to cuddle (and doesn't jump up on the couch like Rusty does!), loves going for walks and is just fantastic!

Rescue Diego!

Here's Rusty and his new foster brother Diego. They're goons.
But Diego is just so cute! He has those eyes that say... Adopt ME!
He sits pretty, knows how to lay down, knows off and is learning leave it. Diego is housetrained and sleeps in a crate (he's also crated when we're not home).
He lurves playing with Rusty, running around the yard and actually fetching a ball. Seriously, he fetches... (I bet you could teach him how to fetch the newspaper!) Diego is very smart and would do fantastic in obedience classes.
